When many Americans sheltered in their homes early in the coronavirus pandemic, meal delivery sales reached new heights. That growth has continued until now. Food delivery App has become an essential part for many people living in cities.
Uber Eats is a popular online food delivery service and an extension of Uber’s original on-demand ride-hailing service. Their target market is people who want convenience and ease when it comes to food.
Me and My friends' experience with UberEats hasn’t always been very pleasant. When using Uber Eats, choosing restaurant and ordering food are two of user flow I experience most often. According to my experience, I was often confused by some problems like inaccuracy and missing information. So I decided to write it down and tried to redesign. And that’s how this critique and redesign started.
How might we improve the user experience of choosing restaurant and ordering food in Uber Eats App?
Worldwide Audience Age Distribution
Through the research, we found that the majority of Uber Eats users are between 18 and 44 years old, and most of them are urban communities.

Busy individuals
People who are busy with work, studies, or other stuff and may not have time to cook or dine out.
Tech-savy consumers
Individuals who are comfortable using mobile apps and online platforms to order goods and services, including food delivery.

Convey the information in an effective and accurate way is important.
Users primary demand in Uber Eats is to effectively obtain restaurant and food information so that they can select the best choice. So the effective transmission of information is very important. When it comes to design, the designer need to think about when information is delivered in the form of Icon and when it is delivered in the form of text or others.
People are usually attracted to things that are labeled
In the design, we can try to present the information in the form of blocks or labels to help users quickly get the information.
Users’ needs of personalization functions
For some users, they are looking for personalized features (such as personalized recommendations) to meet their exploration of restaurants and things.
Scenario: Choose a Fast Food restaurant you want. (deliver within 30 min)
Goal: Easy and quick to choose right restaurant. Get more useful information.

Scenario: Browse the restaurant and the menu, select the food you want.
Goal: Select process is simple and effective. Get more detailed information to help select.

1. When critique, we not only need to record what was not effective of the previous version, but also pay attention to what was good before. Then, improve the weaknesses and enhance the strengths.
2. Think more about the user's point of view and needs, and think more about the reasons of why make this design.
3. Looking for reference of excellent cases, attention to industry dynamics.
