Background

After entering the university, due to the change of life and study mode, time management is particularly important for the future development of college students. However, plenty of college students are lack of time management skills, and felt stressed because of poor time management. Therefore, we want to design an App that can help college students effectively and intelligently manage and plan their time, so as to relieve their discomfort and pressure.

Current situation

Through the research, we found that 86 percent of college students said it was difficult to manage their time, and 54 percent felt stressed because of poor time management. From the research and interview, we found that college students' needs of time management are mainly about the following points: Help to plan schedule, Setting goals, Social support, Time management tips.

“ I'm an unplanned person. I always put off tasks until the end of the semester, which makes me very stressed and overwhelmed during final. I often end up not getting anything done."

Ideation

We divided the main functions of the app into three parts, build schedule, intelligent suggestion and reminder, summary and incentive mechanism. After that, we listed the specific functions we wanted to implement, and prioritize the functions. The specific functions implemented by the App are selected based on the priority

On the basis of the brainstorming table and our discussion, we finally selected the main functions: AI-based schedule builder (AI chatbot), refine/optimize schedule, set the goal, prioritizing the task, achievement wall and progress.

Why AI chatbot?

With the continuous development of AI technology, AI chatbots could  provide smarter, effective and more personalized experiences to user. That's the technology we are looking for to help our product to achieve personalized and intelligent time management assist.

Also, for our audience, college students, they are a generation that has grown up with new technology. They are the ones who are the fastest adopters of these new technologies and the ones who are eager to use the new tech like AI chatbot.

Onboarding & Preferences

Users can know about the main functions, import schedule from other calendar, and set personal preferences here.

Build schedule

Users can edit the schedule by dragging or clicking the task block and the add task button.

AI Chatbot

Users can ask chatbot to give them suggestion of the schedule, help them add task, refine the schedule, set the goal. Intelligent chatbot will follows users' requests to complete the task.

Accomplishments & MyTab

Users can see the goals, summary and the achievement here. Also, they can edit some personalization settings in MyTab page.

Usability testings & Iteration

Conducted 10 user testings to collect users' feedback of the wireframes.
User flow: Onboarding, use intelligent chatbot to edit/improve  schedule, find the achievement.

1. Need a deeper exploration of intelligent chatbot. For example, how can intelligent chatbot help users manage their time more efficiently? What kind of prompt do users need most?

2. It is important to iterate through user feedback. Especially when designing some personalized features, each design is based on users characteristics and feedback of users.
