Role
Web Designer
- Lead the website redesign, develop and iteration. Expanded the website with new features, such as the event and gallery pages, to meet user and client’s needs.
- Analyzed user data through Google Analytics and redesigned the website information architecture.

Website traffic growth 318.7% (2month after launch)
Website bounce rate reduce 5.6% (2month after launch)
As Many Weirdos As Possible is a still life documentary photography project that tell the story of musical legacy of the Pacific Northwest. Because the previous website is too simple to show their works and stories, my clients want a new website for the project.
Context
As the organization is going to hold more offline events, they want a new platform to let more people know and participate in what they are doing.
Goal
They are seeking opportunities in:
- Telling the story of their initial project launch and the story they collected.
- Letting more people know the events and take part in.
- Expanding their audience group.
Needs
Redesign and develop a new website for the project where the users can know and participate in what they are doing.
How might we enrich the content and improve the user experience of the website to show what the organization is doing and engage more people?
Target audience

Data analytics
Through Google Analytics, we found the most visit pages of our audience.

Analytics data from the former sites shows that users are more interested in B-Roll and About page. It can be learned from the interview that although there were only a few pictures in B-Roll page, users were very interested in the picture content. Also, as a still life documentary photography project, we need a section to show our documentary photography and story as well.
User interviews
To understand the user needs, we conducted interviews with some audiences to get feedbacks of the former website and what they want to get from the website.
Key findings
- Interviewees reflected that through the former website, they didn’t actually know about what this project worked for. Were they a musical group? Or a photography group? What they were trying to do? What is the mission of the organization?
- The current contents on the website were too simple to engage the audiences. They wanted to know more about what the organization did. Interviewees are interested in the events and wanted to participate in.
- The former website did not set up a page for event information. However, many users are looking forward to get activities’ information here.
Add more sections to expend the content
After discussions with client, I decided to add “Events” , “B-Roll Gallery” , and “Weirdo Stories” pages (featuring musician photos and stories) to the original site to enrich the content and to satisfy audiences’ needs. As client wants to have a place for donate and sell merchandise on the website, “Donate” and “Store” are also added to the websites.

The homepage was redesigned with some graphics and logo elements. The homepage will show the mission , the introduction of the organization and the latest activities.

Display the collection of musician's photos and storyies. Each photo can be clicked to enlarge and tagged with the name and social media links.
